Notes:
Bootleg edition (with good sound) of this 1969 album from the Japanese Rock vocalist. Adam And Eve is arguably her
best album. The material is stunning, ranging from folk with psyched out vocals underscored with classical shades and
erotic moaning, to harmony pop ala a Japanese Dusty Springfield. On this disc, Maki does it all, still trying to pin down
her trademark style. Almost every song is a winner on this varied album. One of the nicest female Psych influenced vocal
albums to seep out of Japan..
Carmen Maki was born as Maki Annette Lovelace in 1951 in the city of Kamakura, then in the same Big Buddha Giant,
Kanagawa Prefecture Japanese mother and Irish father of Polish-Jewish descent. Shortly after birth, the family moved
to Tokyo, becoming independent Carmen at 17. She joins the troupe of Shuji Terayama and soon after launched the
single "Tokiniwa Haha No Naiko No Yohni / Anata Ga Hoshii" (CBS, 1969) which opens the door to publish here under
review "Adam and Eve" (CBS , 1970) as she won the Grand Prize CBS whose reward was that, a record.
A surprising and timeless album that will surprise the listener restless. Thoroughly recommended. But her career did not
end here but meets the hard-rock Blues Creation group to record a single album. In 1975 forms the Carmen Maki & Oz
group.
With them she recorded four albums before disbanding. Among the components of this group we can find Yoshihiro
Naruse, which later formed part of the jazz fusion band Casiopea, or former members of Creation. Carmen took her liked
to sporadic collaborations and again repeated with the likes of "Carmen Maki & LAFF", interrupted by drug problems,
and "Carmen Maki & MOSES".
In the eighties she embarks on the adventure X5, with heavy metal group people Anthem. With them she will release three
more albums. Because drug problems mentioned above, and its appearance in Playboy magazine career stands still. A
long hiatus. In 1993 she acquires Japanese nationality and race start again until this time where still active...

[The only thing that I doubt is her father's citizenship. I had read he was from the USA.]
